Run by Beth and Mike Mills, the bed and breakfast now prides itself on offering you relaxing and peaceful bed and breakfast accommodation with luxury and style.

Welcoming Hallway

Wooler is not only classed as ‘The Gateway to the Cheviots’ but is a wonderful base for your adventures into Northumberland. It is a central hub for all the delights of the area. Easy access to the Northumberland Coast with its beaches unspoilt and designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne, (Holy Island), the Farne Islands with their sea birds, not to mention Puffins!! Not forgetting of course, Alnwick Castle, The Alnwick Garden and Tree House are all but a short drive away.

Firwoods welcoming lounge

However there is such a lot on the doorstep of our B&B to explore, whether you are interested in castles or museums, art or history, activities or wildlife. That’s without going into raptures over the scenery! The location of Firwood Bed and Breakfast embodies the diversity of Northumberland. The front of the accommodation looks out over a very rural, almost parkland scenery, far reaching views with the hills of Chillingham in the distance. A short drive takes you to the Northumberland Coast. Behind us you start to get a sense of the Cheviot Hills. You will see we are bounded by the Northumberland National Park and a few moments drive or a short walk will take you into a different landscape altogether. Voted England’s most tranquil place, with wide open spaces, dramatic hills, tumbling burns and big skies, the Northumberland National Park can be classed as true, unspoilt wilderness.

Stoat

We couldn't be better placed if you are coming to walk. Forget your car for a while, leave it at our bed and breakfast and walk into the Harthope Valley. Rivers and burns with Dippers and Oyster Catchers, moorland hills with falcon and Curlew, the Northumberland National Park emblem. At the very end of the valley stands the Cheviot itself. Perhaps I shouldn't be telling you about this place.

Housey Crags, Harthope Valley

Northumberland offers some of the best in country walking, coast or hills. Northumberland County has been called 'Land of the far horizons', a very true and apt statement. If you want to escape the bustle and rush of everyday life, the Cheviots are a revelation.

Get off the beaten track in the North Northumberland roads and onto your bike. If you don't want to carry your bikes, there is cycle hire not far from the bed and breakfast. It is still a pleasure to cycle around the villages and hamlets of Northumberland with lots of stops to take in the views and watch the wildlife. I definitely shouldn't be telling you about this place!

Peace and tranquility with all the homely comforts.
